Rodrigo González Castellanos (Guadalajara, Mexico, 1987).

BIO

Originally from Tepatitlán, Jalisco, he was born on May 8, 1987, and grew up in an agricultural and rural environment. In 2005, he moved to Guadalajara, Jalisco, to study Architecture. Later, he became interested in art, creating pieces that depicted the physical labor and wear and tear experienced in agriculture and construction. He currently works on and researches about rural and construction materials, continuing his exploration of the wear and tear and labor of farm workers.

He has exhibited in museums such as the Raúl Anguiano Art Museum, the Cabañas Cultural Institute, the Zapopan Art Museum, the Museum of the City of Guadalajara, and the Tepatitlán Jalisco House of Culture. Rodrigo González Castellanos has participated in art auctions such as the Arte Vivo auction held at the Museum of Modern Art in Mexico City, as well as art fairs like JustMad in Madrid, Salón ACME in Mexico City, and the FAMA (MexicaN Accesible Art Fair in Monterrey. His participation was under the representation of Galería Chica, a gallery in Guadalajara, Jalisco.

He also completed a residency at the Hotel El Ganzo for a week in May 2019. His works are included in collections such as the «New Pilar Citoler Collection» in Zaragoza, Spain, the «Font-Irwin Collection» in London, England, and the personal collection of Eric Gleason, director of Kasmin Gallery, among other private collections.

He recently completed his Master’s degree in Contemporary Art at the University of the Arts of Aguascalientes (2024-2025), where he researched on territorial pigments through an artistic project entitled «Drawing with the Earth of Jalisco: Pigments, Memory, and Territory.» Rodrigo González Castellanos currently lives and works in the city of Guadalajara, Jalisco.
